Satellites Track Ocean Levels

After viewing 18 years worth of satellite footage, scientists have been able to create a detailed map of sea level changed that have occurred. The studies conform that the ocean levels are rising at an alarming rate of 3 mm per year. In other parts of the world oceans are rising even upto 10 mm per year, and this change is caused primarily by the El Nino Southern Oscillation. Other currents are also changing these rates which is causing the data to flourish and change in all directions.

Air Pollution Increasing Risks For Strokes and Heart Attacks

New research suggests that a small increase in air traffic pollution could be just enough to increase a person's risk of a stroke. Analyses of data have been conducted to provide evidence of the biological plausibility of strokes and heart attacks due to the effects of air pollution on a person. Several studies have been performed by comparing day-to-day levels of various airborne pollutants of different stroke and heart attack incidents.

 In class today, Mrs. Howell showed us yet another way the iPhone is like a Swiss Army  Knife; it can be used as an incredibly precise level and protractor.  Catherine Wong, who is seventeen like I am, came up with another—an electrocardiogram (ECG) that can send medical data over the phone.

At the pinnacle of every high schoolers stress pyramid lies the supposed catch-all end-all test: the SAT. Said to be the leading determinant in the college admissions process, thousands of nervous high schoolers take the test hoping to score well to set them up for college. However, because the SAT is such a highly weighted measuring stick, it has been carefully scrutinized and dissected by statisticians and researchers every year. Their results have surprisingly been that the SAT is not the best test of intellectual ability.
